educational day

So today my sister asked me to go to the Museum of Tolerance in LA with her, since she had to go for one of her classes. I went for a field trip there when I was in high school or middle school, and remember hating it. Well, this time around was a completely different experience. i guess when you are older you understand and care about things so much more. definitely got a lot more out of the museum today than i did several years ago, i guess i did a lot of growing up in the past years…

There was a Holocaust survivor there to talk today, and it was the most interesting hour I’ve had in a while. He had some really heart-wrenching stories..he was about 16 years old when he was first separated from his family and put into the camps..The thing that was most amusing was how optimistic and jolly he was about the whole thing. i dont really know if he was just putting up a front for the speech, but he did not seem at all bitter or angry about what happened, and i have to admit I think I would be if I went through that. I really wanted to ask him if he ever feels that way, but I didn’t think it was appropriate…but I do wonder how you can’t be bitter when you suddenly get separated from your family and never see your parents again, I cannot even imagine. but anyway, he was an awesome man and I’m really glad I got to hear him speak.

The rest of the museum was too tour-y and commercial for me. I liked sitting and listening to the speaker much more than walking thru a tour with fake statues and manikin looking things talking at me.

anyway, thats about it for today.. if the whole Holocaust thing interests you, you should definitely go listen to one of the testimonies at the museum. Its a good opportunity since its sad but these survivors arent going to be around for much longer..

okay , good night.

ps. i have a pimple on my nose and it hurts like hell…..ouch…
